Jon Bon Jovi isn’t keen on seeing Kurt Cobain sing his songs either you know (in Guitar Hero 5).

Jon Bon Jovi has now waded into the Guitar Hero 5 war of words between the surviving members of Nirvana, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl, Cobain’s widow Courtney Love and Guitar Hero 5 publisher Activision. The Bon Jovi frontman told the BBC “I don’t know that I would have wanted it either – to hear someone else’s voice coming out of a cartoon version of me? I don’t know. It sounds a little forced.” Jon BJ then went on to say that he was asked to appear in the game by Activision but just decided to pass on the offer.

Love has allegedly been very “vocal” in her protests (on Twitter anyway) saying that seeing the Kurt Cobain avatar singing other people’s songs (which include Bon Jovi hit “You Give Love a Bad Name” ) would be something the Nirvana singer and guitarist would have himself despised. She also said that she never signed off on Cobain’s likeness being used as a fully playable character in the game. Activision on the other hand claim that all of the paperwork is in order and that Love has already cashed the cheque. Hmmm.

Guitar Hero 5 is obviously pushing the right buttons for some as it hit the number 1 spot in the UK games chart ahead of rival game The Beatles: Rock Band.
