Bargain Hunter Snaps Up John Lennon Guitar for Double the Estimated Price

A guitar owned by the late John Lennon fetched £205,000 at auction (complete with a fax from the late George hofner senatorHarrison certifying ownership (the fax was reportedly of a letter to the Lily Evans, the widow of road manager and friend Mal Evans).  The guitar in question was a 1958 Hofner Senator was probably used by Lennon at home for writing purposes in the very early 1960’s, just as the Beatles were about to explode.  Lennon himself was more famously associated with the Rickebacker 325 but the appeal is probably in what Lennon used the Hofner for.  Couple that with certification by another member of the Beatles is a likely factor for driving up the price.
