Google Interactive Logo Celebrates Les Paul’s 96th Birthday in Style
Posted on June 9th, 2011 No commentsHappy birthday Les Paul – so say all of us – and Google, it seems.
Check out today’s cool interactive Google logo in honour of the late, great man himself. Have a strum using your mouse, or click the keyboard icon and use QWERTY… etc. Could do with a few pedals to mix things up though, right?Les Paul, who died in 2009, would have been 96 today! Check him out back in 1999 in New York:

Guess Who Jammed with Alter Bridge On Stage?
Posted on November 4th, 2010 No commentsSo Alter Bridge
were playing a gig in Stockholm, Sweden on 2 November 2010 when a surprise guest joined them on stage. None other than Slash. Borrowing a guitar off Myles Kennedy (a PRS, no less), Slash, Mark Tremonti and Alter Bridge joined forces to belt out Rise Today – one of the finest songs from Blackbird, Alter Bridge’s second studio album
. Tremonti seemed pretty happy to sit on rhythm guitar duties for this – well you would be, wouldn’t you?
Check it out:
Have you heard any of the new Alter Bridge album yet? It’s called ABIII – I bought it last week and it is a very strong candidate for my album of 2010. ABIII is available now from Amazon.co.uk in CD
format or as a digital download.
Thanks to Music Radar for this story.

Slash attacked on stage and then just keeps on playing
Posted on June 14th, 2010 2 commentsWhat does a pro guitarist do when something unexpected happens on stage?
He or she keeps on playing. Slash shows yet again he’s as cool as a cucumber on stage. A quick fix of his Gibson Les Paul by a roadie and Slash carries on playing Sweet Child o’ Mine as though nothing happened. What a pro! Check out this footage of the incident that has materialised on YouTube in the last few of days.
Not sure what the point of the raging numpty who rushed him on stage (at 01:15 or so) was but NOBODY ruins the Sweet Child o’ Mine solo. Nobody. Well I know some people who do, but it’s unintentional, I suppose. I’m sure rushing at Slash on stage was worth the kicking the fan probably received in the pit (maybe).
Anyone know what this fan’s issue was?
I’ll try to find out.

Ronnie Wood Radio Show guests Slash and Myles Kennedy link here
Posted on June 10th, 2010 No commentsEssential listening: “Hey that’s awesome, man”… another excellent radio show by Ronnie Wood. In this edition, Ronnie chews the fat with old pal Slash and his “solo” project touring band frontman Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge). And they play some great tracks as well (Slash, the Stones, The Faces, Clapton, AC/DC and more).
Slash hits the Maurice Jones Stage at the Download Festival, Castle Donington on Sunday at 2:55pm.
Thanks to Total Guitar Mag (Facebook Page) for the heads up on this.
If you fancy a wee listen, check out the Ronnie Wood Show in question.

Limited edition Hotrod Inspired Dean guitars and the Dime Crest Hotrod at NASCAR
Posted on April 18th, 2010 No comments
Image via Wikipedia
So these gorgeous looking guitars with go faster stripes are from Dean Guitars. The chances are, by the time you read this, you won’t be able to lay your hands on one of these for love nor money – they were produced by the Dean Guitars Woodshop to celebrate a new partnership between Dean and Stratus Racing Group and in support of RideforDime.org (remembering Dimebag Darrell, Pantera and Damage Plan guitarist). It was anticipated that the guitars would sell out at a NASCAR event where the #73 car, driven by Derrike Cope, features the full “Dime Crest”. The bonnet (hood) of the car will be auctioned off at the Ride for Dime Concert and Motorcycle Rally later in the year.

If you’re keen to check if there are any of these guitars left over, you can try emailing e...@deanguitars.com.
Good luck!
