Guess Who Jammed with Alter Bridge On Stage?

So Alter Bridge were playing a gig in Stockholm, Sweden on 2 November 2010 when a surprise guest joined them on stage. None other than Slash. Borrowing a guitar off Myles Kennedy (a PRS, no less), Slash, Mark Tremonti and Alter Bridge joined forces to belt out Rise Today – one of the finest songs from Blackbird, Alter Bridge’s second studio album. Tremonti seemed pretty happy to sit on rhythm guitar duties for this – well you would be, wouldn’t you?

Tyler’s Revenge with Mic Stand

So the physical comedy battles between Steve Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith rage on. After recovering from being butted off stage by Joe Perry, Tyler accidentally smacks Perry on the head with a mic stand. Must have hurt a bit – Perry fails to see the funny side and throws a bit of a wobbler, chucking his guitar before disappearing offstage. See for yourself:

You just know this isn’t going to end well. Tyler is flirting with American Idol, Perry is becoming increasingly pissed with Tyler. There may be blood. And *sob* guitars are getting hurt. End this madness now, ya numptys.

Roundup – U2 pull out of Glasto, Led Zepelin may step in! Slipknot bass player found dead, Stones Number 1 again

A huge blow to the Glastonbury festival organisers and fans when it became clear Bono (who underwent emergency surgery on his back after after injuring himself and experiencing partial paralysis in his legs during rehearsals for the band’s current tour) wouldn’t be fit in time for the festival and that U2 would have to pull out of Glasto.  Then Jimmy Page went on record (well, in the Sun newspaper) stating he wouldn’t rule out a Led Zep reunion to fill in for U2. A real case of Oh NNNnnnn… YEEESS if it comes to pass!  Having said that, Coldplay are also rumoured to be interested in stepping in. Not so good.

The death of Slipknot bass player Paul Gray is still not explained as police await the results of a toxicology screen as part of an autopsy on Paul’s body. “Maggots” (Slipknot fans) around the world are still in shock at Paul’s death. Watch this space for more news.

The Rolling Stones remastered album, Exile on Main Street hits the album chart top spot – the Stones’ first number one for more than 16 years!

Any other news… hmmm… Yes – I’m just back from Paris, France.  Had a great time ta very much. Was entertained by a George Bush-hating guitarist on the steps of the Sacre Coeur.  I didn’t have the heart to tell him Obama got in. Took some poor quality video which I may fire up here.  Or not.

Watch AC/DC and Iron Man Trash Rochester Castle

AC/DC recently took on Iron Man in an architectural projection blastaway on the side of Rochester Castle in Kent, UK. This took place on 16 April 2010 and I’m sure you’ll agree, the results are just stunning – the impressive landmark that is Rochester Castle being trashed by AC/DC and Iron Man. The soundtrack to the forthcoming film Iron Man 2 is a compilation of 15 classic AC/DC tracks, including Back in Black, T.N.T. and War Machine. Iron Man 2 is released in UK cinemas on 29 April 2010. So Record Store Day took place yesterday (Saturday 17 April 2010). Did you support your local independent record store? It seems that this event is gaining a lot of support. I didn’t realise the extent of the support from major artists until today. There were some amazing record collectables to be had from the likes of:

Further acts confirmed for Download 2010 including Slash and Cancer Bats

Several more acts have been announced for the Download 2010 Festival. The full list of additional acts is below and they join the likes of AC/DC, Deftones, Rage Against the Machine, Aerosmith, Megadeth and the Stone Temple Pilots. Additional acts include Slash, Cancer Bats, The Damned Things, Porcupine Tree, White Wizzard, The Used and many more. Interesting that Slash and the Stone Temple Pilots are both set to play the Sunday evening. Former Velvet Revolver vocalist Scott Weiland left VR to rejoin STP in less than amicable circumstances (allegedly) – in one of the Classic Rock Slash Pack interviews with Slash, he mentions that although things were tough when both he and Weiland were in Velvet Revolver together, everything is cooler between them now that they’re apart. Scott blames the WAGS. Velvet Revolver have yet to find a replacement for Weiland and Slash is in no hurry since rushing to put VR together is why they took Weiland on in the first place. Speculation over the choice of replacement vocalist is rife (names banded about include Myles Kennedy (currently touring with Slash’s band and Engelbert Humperdinck).
