Danny Gill on his new DVD-based Lick Library guitar course:

A little bit of info about Danny Gill:

Danny first learned to play guitar when he was 12 years old and is a former student of Joe Satriani. Danny was a teacher at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California for 13 years, during those years he had his first record deal with his first band Hericane Alice on Atlantic Records), appeared on MTV, toured the USA and opened for bands such as Whitesnake & Skid Row. He then recorded 3 CD’s with Medicine Wheel, got to tour in Japan before joining Speak No Evil – they released 2 CD’s with Universal Records and opened for bands such as Megadeth, Staind, and System of a Down.

So it’s probably an understatement to say that your guitar training is safe in Danny’s hands!

Scots-born Angus Young is celebrating his birthday today (31 March 2010). The school uniform wearin’, SG-rockin’, stage-thrashin’ AC/DC guitar player is 55 today. Angus was born on this day 31 March 1955 in Glasgow and was raised in the tough Cranhill area of the city before moving to Australia with his older brother Malcolm and the family in 1963. Angus and Malcolm established AC/DC in 1973.

He might have lost his Weegie accent since then.

    Yup… thought so. AC/DC rock!

Seems like just yesterday I was enviously reporting on the events of Download 2009 (from my pokey wee office in Glasgow). And it seems that the same will happen again this year. This is made worse with the news that AC/DC will headline Download 2010 (the 30th anniversary of Monsters of Rock festival), which takes place at Donington Park June 11-13 2010. Tickets will sell out fast because Angus and Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd (collectively known as AC/DC) will be joined by the likes of Them Crooked Vultures, Deftones, Megadeth, Motorhead, Stone Temple Pilots, Bullet For My Valentine and Wolfmother (many more bands to be confirmed).

Tickets go on sale this Friday(January 29th) from the Download Festival website and ticket sellers including TicketMaster.
