Guess Who Jammed with Alter Bridge On Stage?
Posted on November 4th, 2010 No commentsSo Alter Bridge
were playing a gig in Stockholm, Sweden on 2 November 2010 when a surprise guest joined them on stage. None other than Slash. Borrowing a guitar off Myles Kennedy (a PRS, no less), Slash, Mark Tremonti and Alter Bridge joined forces to belt out Rise Today – one of the finest songs from Blackbird, Alter Bridge’s second studio album
. Tremonti seemed pretty happy to sit on rhythm guitar duties for this – well you would be, wouldn’t you?
Check it out:
Have you heard any of the new Alter Bridge album yet? It’s called ABIII – I bought it last week and it is a very strong candidate for my album of 2010. ABIII is available now from Amazon.co.uk in CD
format or as a digital download.

Ronnie Wood Radio Show guests Slash and Myles Kennedy link here
Posted on June 10th, 2010 No commentsEssential listening: “Hey that’s awesome, man”… another excellent radio show by Ronnie Wood. In this edition, Ronnie chews the fat with old pal Slash and his “solo” project touring band frontman Myles Kennedy (Alter Bridge). And they play some great tracks as well (Slash, the Stones, The Faces, Clapton, AC/DC and more).
Slash hits the Maurice Jones Stage at the Download Festival, Castle Donington on Sunday at 2:55pm.
Thanks to Total Guitar Mag (Facebook Page) for the heads up on this.
If you fancy a wee listen, check out the Ronnie Wood Show in question.

Alter Bridge tour and new album on the way woohoo

Fresh from Myles Kennedy’s tour of duty with Slash’s touring band and Mark Tremonti’s sabbatical catching up with his old mates and touring and making some money and stuff (Creed), Alter Bridge are set to return to the studio to create a much anticipated third album and take things back on the road. The band have announced several UK dates for October already. I’ve seen them twice at the O2 Academy (formerly the Carling Academy) in Glasgow (see my amateurish vid below) and rate them as one of my favourite live acts. Myles has an amazing rock voice (not to mention being pretty damned handy around a fretboard) and Mark’s lead guitar playing is as tight as you’ll ever hear. Drummer Scott Phillips and bassist Brian Marshall manage to hold their own too. You can check out the MP3 samples of the amazing Alter Bridge album “Blackbird” below, if you’re not familiar with the band.
The announced Alter Bridge tour dates (UK) are as follows:
Saturday October 16 – Glasgow Academy
Sunday October 17 – Newcastle 02 Academy
Tuesday October 19 – Manchester Academy
Wednesday October 20 – Nottingham Rock City
Friday October 22 – Hammersmith HMV Apollo
Saturday October 23 – Southampton Guildhall
Monday October 25 – Birmingham 02 Academy
Tuesday October 26 – Bristol Colston HallThanks to Metal Hammer for this news.

Who wants a free guitar lesson (fingerstyle) with Alter Bridge and Creed guitarist, Mark Tremonti?
Posted on September 12th, 2009 No comments
Then head over to Music Radar (link at the bottom of this post) where the Alter Bridge guitar hero (and soon to be one of our influential guitarists) himself will tell you about his approach to fingerstyle playing in this free guitar lesson. Now Mark isn’t playing what we could call traditional fingerstyle as he uses just his thumb and index finger but it clearly works for him. Anyone familiar with Mark’s playing in Alter Bridge and Creed will recognise his unique sound in the original piece of music featured in the lesson. And if you’re like us, then you’ll really get a kick out of learning this. Tremonti plays PRS guitars and has his own signature model. The lesson consists of a video and the accompanying guitar tab – head over to Music Radar to check it out. Hope it’s useful to you.
Here’s a clip of Mark and the Alter Bridge lads playing the excellent Ties That Bind live at the O2 Academy (or the Carling Academy as it was then known) in Glasgow in January 2008. I was at this gig!
