You may have heard that Blur were getting back together in the studio recently to record their first new material in years (seven years, I believe) in aid of Record Store Day. Fans paid up to £200 on eBay for copies of this single on vinyl.
Well you can check out the track for FREE (free legal download), Fool’s Day at blur.co.uk.
We’d love to hear what you think of it.
Bye!

Blur back in the studio – new tracks for Record Store Day 17 April 2010

Blur have again reunited, this time in the studio, to record their first new material in a loooong time (8 years or so). The band are putting together two tracks for Record Store Day (17 April 2010), which will be released on 7-inch vinyl – limited to 1000 copies at participating stores.
Damon Albarn:
“We want independent record stores to continue – they’re an important part of our musical culture.
“Music is a simple way for Blur to show our support and I hope people like it.”
This follows on from last summer’s successful Blur reunion where the boys (Damon Albarn (vocals), Graham Coxon (guitar), Alex James (bass) and Dave Rowntree (drums)) performed at several major events: at the Glastonbury and T in the Park festivals as well as an event at London’s Hyde Park (chronicled on the DVD: Blur – No Distance Left To Run
).
So, of course, speculation is rife about how permanent this reunion is and if the current tracks will pave the way for more new Blur material – perhaps even a new Blur album? The band’s label EMI has promised more news on the tracks in the next week or so – but there are apparently no plans to release the tracks on any other format at the moment. We predict that this isn’t the end of the story though
Thanks to BBC News for this story.
