John Williams Fact File

Name:     John Christopher Williams         (not to be confused with John Williams, composer of many movie scores including E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial, Jaws, Star Wars and the Indiana Jones score)

Born:       24 April 1941 (Melbourne, Australia)

Career:

  • Sky   (Williams was a member of this rock-classical fusion band from mid to late 1970’s until 1984)

Williams also had many collaborations during his solo career (spanning an amazing 6 decades, from 1958 to today) with the likes of Pete Townshend and composers such as Stanley Myers who wrote a piece,  originally composed for piano but re-written for guitar and recorded by Williams and released as “Cavatina” (see video clip below), most famously as the soundtrack to The Deer Hunter (starring Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, John Savage and Meryl Streep), but equally famous for the Gallery segment of Take Hart (starring the late, great Tony Hart… friend of Morph).
